Speed Limiter Renewal and Verification
SPS Limited issues Speed Limiter Renewal and Verification certificates for vehicles equipped with GRTD and FK series Speed Limiter devices. Annual renewal of your Speed Limiter Certificate is mandatory to comply with road safety standards set by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) and the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS), as referenced in KS2295-1:2023 Annex A.
Annual Inspection and Certification Process
Each vehicle fitted with a speed limiter must undergo an annual road-worthiness inspection. This includes renewing the Speed Limiter Compliance certificate. The certificate must be submitted to the NTSA inspection center to confirm that the speed limiter is functioning properly. Without this certificate, the vehicle cannot operate on Kenyan roads and may face fines.
Required Documents
Before proceeding to any NTSA inspection center, you will need:
- The Speed Limiter Compliance Certificate
- The NTSA platform verification code (linked to the vendor platform configuration data)
Speed Limiter Renewal
SPS Limited issues the Speed Limiter Renewal certificate only after the vehicle has been inspected by an authorized dealer. If the limiter is functioning correctly, the certificate will be provided, allowing the vehicle to proceed with its annual inspection.
